Coyote Says Goodbye

His life

wound down.

Whispers faded to

silence.

As the First People

stole his breath,

they commanded him

to return.

My grandmother

diamonds sparkling in her eyes

released him.

Coyote poems dedicated to Egbert Drewes, returned to the Creator in 1996.
