Water’s Edge

We kick and crunch

discarded oaken robes underfoot and

head for the threshold where

land and water mate.

In the distance,

the susurrus of distant water

whispers its welcome.

We descend.

Bowed at our feet,

mini tsunamis blub, smack and

ceaselessly slap at

the rocky shelf of sand

but don’t

quite

reach

the tip of

my tennis shoes.
