Labor Day

Patience, cherry popsicle red,
melts away, leaving behind
a sticky reminder of gel filled balloons.
Copper bright sunlight
trumpets Revile, awakens
forgotten childhood urges
and summons us to battle.
Angry, vengeful tears propel us
not to soothe but rather towards
a grass green curled shape,
half hidden in the grass,
coiled in upon itself in false innocence.
In a water fight,
the hose reigns supreme.
